About Dr. Tracie A. Nicoll

Dr. Nicoll embarked on her academic journey with a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) in 2017. The rigorous training and mentorship she received at UCCS set the foundation for her future contributions to the field.
Academic Pursuits
Dr. Nicoll's academic pursuits were driven by her interest in understanding mental health and learning evidence-based strategies to effectively help people suffering with mental illness and navigating through life’s challenges. At UCCS, she learned various aspects of clinical psychology, developing a strong foundation in both theoretical and practical knowledge. She gained extensive clinical experience through practicums across a variety of settings including community mental health, primary care behavioral health, brain care, hospice, and the aging center. Her research during her doctoral studies focused on innovative approaches to psychological assessment and intervention for aging families with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Following the completion of her PhD, Dr. Nicoll joined the University of Colorado Colorado Springs Aging Center as a post-doctoral fellow. Here, she specialized in Geropsychology and Neuropsychological Assessment, fields that address the unique psychological needs and cognitive functions of older adults. Her work at the Aging Center involved conducting comprehensive assessments, providing interventions for age-related psychological issues, and contributing to research on aging and mental health.
Community Engagement
Beyond her academic and professional roles, Dr. Nicoll is actively engaged in community outreach and advocacy. She has collaborated with local organizations to raise awareness about mental health issues in older adults and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and has been a vocal advocate for better mental health services for these demographics.
